GALERIE SEGUIER

Hanging

Jade Marra

Jade Marra, the painter, has returned from an artistic residency she conducted in the south of France. This period offered her a valuable opportunity to deepen her research and explore new facets of her art.

Through this immersion, she was able to nourish her creativity and develop new techniques. She created works on both canvas and paper, with each medium providing her with a unique source of inspiration.

The landscapes and atmosphere of the south of France particularly influenced her creations, leading to a series of unique and original pieces imbued with this Mediterranean ambiance.

BEYOND THE WALLS

"Remembering Beautiful Things"

- Juliette Lemontey and Laura Pasquino

From May 18th to May 26th

The exhibition "Remembering Beautiful Things" with artists Juliette Lemontey and Laura Pasquino will take place at Château de Houtain-le-Val in Belgium.

The duo exhibition takes visitors on a poetic journey between Juliette's artworks and Laura's ceramics. It unfolds within the enchanting setting of a historic castle dating back to the 12th century. This place has witnessed the ups and downs of history, from the passions of the Duke of Brabant to the resilience of the women who have left their mark there.

Juliette Lemontey, a French painter, is known for her ability to capture life, the grace of movements, and the silences of faces. Her work on memory and identity resonates deeply with the history of Château de Houtain-Le-Val. This exhibition also marks her debut at the Grège Gallery in Belgium.

On the other hand, Laura Pasquino, a ceramist based in Amsterdam, explores life's contrasts, between softness and harshness. Through her ceramics, she plays with textures, raw strength, and the organic shapes of nature. The cracks and tears on her pieces become visual metaphors for human scars and wounds.

Tribute to David Hockney

"Interior with a lamp"

September 2023

From September 6 to 16, Amélie du Chalard and curator Johanna Colombatti present the fourth in their series of design exhibitions, featuring a recreation of a David Hockney interior.

A copy of David Hockney's Bigger Book will be presented, thanks to the support of Galerie Lelong. Amélie and Johanna wanted to recreate this setting with contemporary pieces, most of them commissioned from French designers, and to showcase the gallery's artists, who make up all the paintings hanging on the walls. Or how art is inspired by life, and life by art.

This year's exhibition takes the form of an artistic mise en abîme, a famous painting that captures a brightly colored interior scene, which becomes a living scene through the play of a mirror effect. "Interior with a lamp" is David Hockney's famous painting, and this is the proposed reconstruction of this fabulous setting to pay a three-dimensional tribute to the genius of paintbrushes.

An exhibition with the allure of fantasized reality, because who hasn't dreamed of stepping through the looking glass and living inside a painting for a moment? This is the experience we propose here.

This scenography combines young contemporary designers who freely reinterpret the furniture and objects that populate the work, with visual artists who sometimes use trompe l'oeil to provide a more-than-real setting, or display works that will dress the space. The composition will also feature a number of vintage items, blurring the lines and opening the doors to a world suspended between two timelines.

The artists taking part in the project have paid tribute to the great genius David Hockney: Férréol Babin, Heloïse Barriol, Isabelle Beraut, Charlotte Bovy, Rémi Bracquemond, Victor Cadene, Laure Carré, Bonnie Colin, Florence Denou, Prudence Dudan, Sophie de Garam, Frédéric Heurlier Cimolai, Mathilde Labrouche, Michele Landele, Delphine de Luppé, Lena Morelli, Alexandre Benjamin Navet, Emmanuelle Roule, Sophia Taillet, Tanguy Tolila, Pierre Augustin Rose, Yosigo, with contributions from Elitis and The Socialite Family.
