Fabre paints, drawing inspiration from ascetic writing, Japanese calligraphy and tag (a form of signature practised in graffiti).
Fascinated by literature and linguistics, Fabre considers the painting as a place where the boundaries between writing and meaning, shape and message are blurred. The artist's work has features of abstract expressionism, minimalism and street art.
Matthias Fabre was born in 1990. He spent his childhood and the first part of his adolescence in Paris. He then attended the Institute of Romance Studies at Warsaw University, where he defended a thesis on the poetry of Francis Ponge.
He lives and works in Warsaw, Poland.
