Tanguy Tolila

Tanguy Tolila

An open book. Open on the present but support of History. A memory of a life, past, and future.

A line. A line of life, tracing the journey of a man: it advances, rectilinear, hesitates, bypasses, runs, stops, resumes, traversing the material, composed of covers of ancient books.

A material kept raw when it is necessary and reworked, painted, assembled, sewn and strewn with symbols: a title kept in the binding index of fate; across that we guess, heavy meaning, a tear like a scar, a touch of light or a window of colors like a breath of happiness. In this library of lives, one writes his story.

Amélie du Chalard

Tanguy graduated from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris; Tanguy Tolila has been painting for years on the theme of thread and line. A graphical strictness and a choice of materials ( paper, tracing paper, card, sheet music, front covers of antique books) characterize his work.

His paintings are part of numerous private and public collections.
