Biography

La filature

Sandrine Torredemer has been embroidering since the age of five, reinventing landscapes and other scenes every day, inspired by many artists and authors. "These are heartfelt encounters, when I focus on their works, I feel like I am with them, I can spend a month, two months on a painting." Her textile paintings distort reality and highlight, with embroidery in cut-out fabrics, the graffiti of Jean Michel Basquiat and the interior and exterior landscapes of David Hockney. At the rate of two hours at nightfall, this lawyer reconverted into public works engineers, embroiders, cuts, sews in her workshop or in her house, like a meditation exercise: “Embroidery is my oxygen.
